Calculate your required minimum distribution from retirement accounts based on age and balance.
Starting at age 73 (SECURE 2.0 Act), you must withdraw a minimum amount annually from Traditional IRAs, 401(k)s, and similar accounts. The RMD is your account balance divided by a life expectancy factor from the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table. Failure to take RMDs results in a 25% excise tax on the shortfall.
